«Co-operatives are a reminder to the international community that it is possible to pursue both economic viability and social responsibility.»
- Ban Ki Moon, Secrétaire général de l’ONU
2012 has been proclaimed the International Year of Co-operatives by the United Nations.
This acknowledgment couldn’t be more timely. Co-operatives’ resilience in tough economic times is increasingly recognised, and the collective ownership model which places people’s needs before profit has found an increasing number of takers in the current social and economic reality. ‘Occupy everything’ is slowly but surely turning into ‘own our alternatives’.’
A selection of events is planned around the province during the year. If you want to stay abreast of the activities taking place in Canada, visit the following website: http://www.canada2012.coop/
Find an event particularly inspiring and want to propose an activity at the coop? Contact Stephanie at stephanie(at)cooplamaisonverte.com.
Seedling orders will be back in early February
The winter has just started, but work will soon begin again at the Zephyr farm. Stephen’s team will be back in the greenhouse soon, where they will be seeding tomato, herb, squash and all those other plants that will grace their (large) garden and yours. Check out our website or drop by the coop as of February 1st to place your orders. Curious to know how things look in the greenhouse? Visit the coop’s Facebook page - we’ve posted an album containing a few pictures of the 2011 season.

To sign up for an event, please call or visit the Co-op. Unless indicated, events are bilingual and free. For more information, visit our website.
