Combine the washing soda, borax, and soap in a spray bottle. Pour in the hot water (it will dissolve the minerals), screw on the lid, and shake to completely blend and dissolve. Spritz every 6 inches or so of surface once or twice, wiping off the cleanser with a rag as you go. For tough dirt, leave the cleanser on for a few minutes before wiping it off. Shake the bottle each time before using.
Shelf Life: Indefinite

With the arrival of the fall harvest season, a new feeling of abundance and gratefulness can be found at the Montreal Urban Community Sustainment, a non-profit community organization in NDG more familiarly known as MUCS.
MUCS has come a long way in establishing itself as part of the NDG community through its day-to-day activities and special projects, which include a Dining Co-op, Zero Food Waste Network, Popular Education and the Community Design Project (CDP).
For the Dining Co-op, the harvest season brings food, and we all know how food brings people together. Visit MUCS and your nose and ears invite you into the space before you can see what’s going on. You smell Charlie's famous banana bread at the door, and you hear familiar voices in the kitchen discussing everything and anything. As volunteers and members of the Dining Co-op are busy preparing the night's meal, conversation thrives amongst new and old friends.
Initiatives like the Dining Co-op and Zero Food Waste Network support each other and drive forward larger MUCS visions, like the Community Design Project to develop a sustainable community space in NDG.
The CDP is currently putting forward a proposal for community housing and shared community spaces on a site near Metro Vendôme. Community organizations looking for space and residents looking for affordable and co-operative housing will team up with design professionals and academics to create a plan for a new green building in NDG.
Not only is this a project for the NDG community, it’s a project developed by the community. Through public dinners, academic courses, meetings, popular education workshops, and design charrettes, the CDP team will create a detailed development proposal for how to turn a parking lot into a sustainable community space. The CDP team invites anyone who is interested in sustainable housing or community space to partake in the different stages of the design process.
On October 8th from 6:30 – 8:30PM, MUCS will host an information session over dinner about Community Design Project. For more information please e-mail cdp@mucs.ca or call 514-312-7074.
If you would like to get involved in any area of MUCS, please do not hesitate to contact us or visit us at www.mucs.ca.
