Adopting solar energy is now easier and more affordable for homeowners

Énergie Verte Benny Farm (EVBF), a community owned energy services company based in NDG is initiating a new project - Access Energy - to encourage widespread use of solar hot water heating in Montreal.

"This is a great opportunity for Montrealers to install solar water heating at a price that is competitive with conventional energy systems" says Alex Hill, EVBF General Manager. "We are bringing our experience in installing and operating solar thermal systems to help homeowners overcome the complexities of solar energy systems, and find the most reliable, efficient and affordable option for their needs."

How does it work? As an independent not-for-profit, EVBF will facilitate the creation of solar buyers groups on the island of Montreal. Interested homeowners can first attend one of EVBF's public meetings, held around Montreal this Autumn (exact times and locations can be found at: www.accesenergie.ca) where they will see how a solar hotwater system can work in their home. Those interested can sign up for a visit by an EVBF expert to assess their home's potential to use solar energy. EVBF will then form groups of approximately 20 participants and help prepare a collective call for tender for equipment and installation. By identifying and training qualified installers, EVBF will ensure that participants get the highest quality equipment and installations.
