Board of Directors

Coop la Maison verte's Board of Directors is made up of volunteer members who represent their member category in deciding on the general orientations of the Co-op.

Its nine elected members represent all three member categories equally: three user members, three support members and three worker members.

Meet Our Current Board:

Jennifer Grier, User Member - President of La Maison verte
Intense green power in an environmentally friendly package! Jen was born and raised in NDG. She is a concerned citizen and social worker who believes in ecology. She was elected to the Board in September 2006.

Janice Warne, User Member
Involved in social justice and community-building groups in one way or another since the mid-1980s, both in Québec and Alberta, Janis has been a member of the Coop almost since it opened, and a member of the Liaison Committee since 2008. She was elected to the Board in September 2008.

Ina Hillebrand, user member
Ina brings with her a wealth of management experience. She was acclaimed to the Board at the AGM held on June 15, 2010.

Karl Marcuse, Support Member
Karl has lived in NDG for many years, where he has have raised his family and worked on and restored many houses and stores in this tight knit community. Now that he is semi-retired, he finds he would like to continue to use his experience and knowledge in the building trades in a cooperative kind of way. Karl was elected to the Board at the AGM held September 17, 2008.

Paul Cargnello, support member
Paul is a musician and long time Co-op member. He was acclaimed to the Board at the AGM held on June 15, 2010.

Iral Salman, Support Member
Ira has been an active volunteer at the Coop for many years. He brings a good deal of knowledge about the Coop to his new position. Ira was elected to the Board in June 2009.

Kurt Houghton, Worker Member
Kurt has a degree in Environmental Science from McGill University where he was involved in the Organic Food Coop. He has been Store Coordinator at the Coop since September 2004. Kurt was elected to the Board in September 2005.

Jason Hughes, Worker Member
Jason is the Coop's Coordinator of Administration and Development. He is also a founding member of the Coop. He holds a diploma in Community Economic Development from Concordia University and has been active in the NDG community for many years. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Les Habitations communautaires NDG. Jason was elected to the Board at the AGM held September 17, 2008.

Elections at the Annual General Meeting

All members are strongly encouraged to attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM). It's the place to get up to speed on the Co-op's activities, vote on important topics and, most importantly, elect your Board members.
