Green Spring Break at the Biosphère (Feb. 28 - March 8)Environment Canada's Biosphère will be presenting special activities for families from February 28 to March 8, 2009. During this period, there will be no charge for admission. The activities will include a theatrical presentation on waste management, 3Rcadabra!, and an exhibition on sustainable transportation, Get in Green Gear.
3RcadabraThe main character of this theatrical presentation especially for families is a clown playing a magician who makes the enormous pile of waste we produce disappear. With an interactive and entertaining approach, this show will make the public aware of good waste management, the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle), and practical actions that we can take every day. Get in Green GearThis great three-dimensional game about sustainable transportation encourages players to use their knowledge, imagination, and skill, and challenges them to reduce their ecological footprint from personal transportation. Covering approximately 80 square metres in total, the route includes several stations where participants can discover, in a funny way, green transportation alternatives and how to make their travel greener and reduce polluting emissions. Information about the new national vehicle scrappage program, which is helping to make the air that we breathe cleaner, will also be available. Visitors will learn about the financial incentives, who is eligible, and how to retire old vehicles (1995 and earlier), which pollute more and are more harmful to human health and the environment than newer models. The permanent exhibits Water Wonders!, with its interactive modules on water, Moving Giant, on the St. Lawrence River and the Great Lakes, and Planet Bucky will also entertain the whole family.
